For runs, races & sports events

Every marshal on the course, one button away

A push-to-talk room for each team — course, finish, first aid, parking — on the volunteers' own phones. No radios to hand out at dawn and count back in the evening.

How it works

Create a room per team

Up to 20 people each; keep the rooms permanent and reuse them every year.

Send the links in the volunteer briefing

Volunteers open them in the phone's browser — or the Android app, to keep talking with the screen locked.

Press and talk

Hold the button to report; the coordinator's call to everyone cuts in when it matters.

Why organizers use SpeakMic

Rooms per team

Course, finish, first aid — each team on its own channel, without crosstalk.

Private calls

A marshal and the coordinator can talk one-to-one without tying up the channel.

No radio range limit

A 42 km course works as well as a stadium, as long as there's mobile coverage.

No radios to buy, charge and collect

Handing out radios means buying or renting them, charging a box of batteries the night before and chasing the last ones after the finish. SpeakMic runs on the phones your volunteers already carry.

Frequently asked questions

How many volunteers can be in one room?

Up to 20 per room. For a bigger crew, create a room per team or sector — the coordinator can be in several.

What happens where there's no mobile coverage?

Online rooms need mobile data. For a sector without coverage, SpeakMic Offline for Android connects nearby phones directly over WiFi Direct and Bluetooth.

Can the coordinator reach everyone at once?

Yes. The room's host has a call to everyone that takes the floor from whoever is speaking — and reaches people in private calls too.

Does it work with the screen off?

In a phone browser the audio can stop once the screen locks; the SpeakMic Android app keeps the room running in the pocket.
